Yummly is a new online recipe website that is attracting quite a bit of attention. Their format is much like Pinterest other than the fact Yummly deals specifically with recipe posts which are referred to as Yums.
This is a great website for helping to promote your foodie articles or for saving recipes that you would like to easily go back to on another day. It is also an amazing spot to find a fantastic selection of recipes.
Let’s face it, we all eat food and everyone wants to enjoy the foods that they eat. This means that recipes are a popular item for internet searches. Yummly helps to insure that you not only have a large selection of recipes available at your fingertips, but also that writers of these recipes have a great place for their pages to be found.
To get started visit www.yummly.com to create a free account.
Don’t forget to add a photo of yourself and a small “About Me” blurb.
Visitors love to know that you are a genuine person so give them a good reason to want to visit your kitchen.
Once you have your account set up it is now time to Bookmark the Yum button to your browser.
This is super easy. You just pick it up, drag it over to your browser, and drop it in.
Now whenever you find a recipe that you want to save to your Yummly just go to that page, and click the yum button.
Step 3: Troubleshooting!!!
We all know that if something has the opportunity to go wrong that it most certainly will.
For most people the Yummly button will work just fine but for some websites you will be required to use an Open Graph Tag to get things working correctly.
Yummly provides instructions for adding an open graph tag to your website.
Step Four: Saving your recipes
Now that your YUM button is in place you are officially ready to get started bookmarking your recipes onto the Yummly website. So I head over to my website and pick up my famous homemade Oatmeal pancake recipe. (Shameless advertising plug here folks!)
I click the Yum button and my recipe goes into my Recipe Box. You may now notice that your image is not showing. Don’t concern yourself with this. It will often take up to a day or two for the transfer over to Yummly to become complete. If your image does not appear within a week then you may need to install the open graph tag to your website (shown in step 3).
You can now file your Yummly recipes into categories. Breakfast, Dinner, Desserts, and Beverages are some of their suggested categories. You can add additional category headings if you like as well as personalize the blurbs for each of these categories to reflect your distinct personality.
Don’t have a recipe article written yet? Gosh that is a situation to be rectified. We all have a treasure trove of family recipes just waiting to be shared online. So pull out your cookbook and share one today.
