Sam Thomason is a stay-at-home-mom (SAHM) who creates delightful visuals for printables that are very inexpensive, and many of them are free. You can print out her graphics, then frame it to post in your child’s bedroom or playroom. Everything is bold, bright and smile-inspiring. I met Sam when she joined Pinterest Party and have been impressed with her since I met her. She has clever ideas that are easy to implement, just right for busy parents.
1. How long have you been using Pinterest?
I looked through my email archive and apparently I signed up for Pinterest in 2011. I just used it for myself until about 3 months ago, when I started my blog. Since then I rearranged all my boards and tried to create a cohesive, stylized look.
2. Why did you join?
I just heard about it from a friend and thought it sounded cool. In the beginning it used in mainly for fashion and recipes.
3. What benefits have you gotten from being a Pinterest member?
I just love having everything at my finger tips. And I’m very visual, so it’s my favorite place to search everything; from recipes, to decorating, to kids crafts and more. Oh, yeah, and traffic 🙂 Lots of traffic for a brand new blogger!
4. What is your most successful pin? (link to it)
Previous to my blog this nursery print (above) that I sell on Etsy was my most successful: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/269090146460240163/ but this pin (below) from my blog went viral quickly and is now the most repinned for me: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/18436679701084428/
5. What do you like about Pinterest Party? What feature would you like to see added?
I like being able to discuss Pinterest tactics and see how others utilize it and grow their following. I would love to see more discussion about how to have things go viral/getting influencers to pin your content/etc. I am kinda nerdy in that I would also die to know all the details about how the algorithms work. If only someone knew!
6. What is your niche?
I blog/pin about kid’s lifestyle and decor, with an emphasis on kids design boards and free printables. Plus I love bright, colorful pins and lots of white space.
7. When you are not pinning what do you spend your time doing?
I’m a SAHM so I’m with my kids most, but I also enjoy blogging and creating nursery art.
8. What is your favorite activity offline?
Being a mom of young kids means almost all my waking time revolves around them, but I just love doing anything that makes them smile. It’s amazing how fun it is seeing your kids experience new things!
9. If you could do anything you wanted, anywhere in the world, what would that be?
Oh, this is tough! I would want to live here in the US, by family, but I would also love to travel throughout the world. I want to experience all the amazing things the world has to offer and teach my kids about different lifestyles and cultures. My ideal life would be my husband and I working for ourselves, homeschooling our kids, and traveling whenever we wanted.
10. Where can we find you on the web besides Facebook and Pinterest?
My kid’s blog can be found at http://www.thekiwiintheclouds.com
Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/thekiwiintheclouds
11. Who is your favorite author? What is your favorite movie?
I don’t really know who my favorite author is. I generally don’t read more than one book from the same author and lately I have replaced reading with podcasts. So, my favorite podcaster by far is Pat Flynn from Smart Passive Income. Everything he says is amazing. Seriously check him out!
I think I see a theme here with myself; I don’t like narrowing down my favorites! But, as far as movies go, I have always loved You’ve Got Mail. I don’t know why, but I’ve always associated it with Christmas and love to watch it during the holidays.
